visual essay #BCM222

In my visual essay, the topic that I have researched is “How is the food industry influencing/manipulating costumers through advertising?”

Why have I decided to focus on how kids are being manipulated? It’s not only kids as well adults, of course, but kids are being affected more since they don’t understand that they are being controlled/manipulated how it’s being promoted. I am mainly talking about the United Arab Emirates, as well I am talking about how kids are very spoiled and how everything is being given to them on a tray, significantly if you are being raised by an Arab family and have maid’s in your house that you can ask them to bring anything you want, for example, your laying down on your bed and you don’t want to stand up to get that particular item or food you call your maid she gets it for you they live in your house, not like Europe or any other country it’s known that the maid’s come and goes back to their home family’s they don’t have to listen your command they’re job is to clean what is meant to be cleaned, I believe we are all spoiled but everyone is spoiled in a different way.

I began to talk about this topic because I have gone through a similar stage. I was obese, as I have mentioned in my blogs before, why have I chose this topic is because, in all of my WordPress, I am trying as more as possible to write about a healthy lifestyle, this is one of the main reasons it’s also affecting the kids in the way of consuming any food they want, and the parents don’t do anything about it. The side effects that the parents are ruining their kids’ health by allowing them to eat anything for example for manipulating kids, how commercials send a message to the kids is by choosing their favorite cartoon series for example minions they are manipulating them to make the kids wanting to eat the food what the minion is eating in the commercial that food because that minion is holding, for example, snickers and eating it, yes its good for you child to have sweets and tasty food, but not every day and every time they want there should be boundaries, but unfortunately there isn’t any.

Advertisement is a massive manipulation that is starting to be a problem worldwide; it’s a big game where it’s using costumer’s emotions for adults as well. It is not right to use machines to get your product sold, such as sweets junk food for kids.

You can say food advertisement is prompting obesity, having a healthy lifestyle is very complex, especially nowadays, we live in a generation full of trends The nutritional quality of trendy food sources is deficient and does not have the nutrition that the kids need it has all the lousy nutrition mostly then healthy that is why it has been controlled, and kids need to understand that is bad to have trendy food all the time because you can become obese we need the kids to understand. As well as, grocery shops, restaurants, schools, workplaces, and other sources are not well documented for the kids too, the message needs to be sent.

Each year, additional food products are produced by manufacturers and retailers to fulfill the demands of children and parents in today’s hectic, fast-paced world, new restaurants open up and as well posting on social media mainly, but on the other hand, for kids, it is affecting them because they don’t know what is terrible and what is good only the parents know what’s best for they’re a child and the parents don’t put a stop to the problem of becoming obese from a young age, it’s essential to improve your child health level from age and have all the nutrition is needed.

Obesity is a disease, not a lifestyle disorder, and covid has taken obesity to another level. Many people started to stress eat because of the pandemic the lockdown the first year; parents are not doing anything to have strict and healthy food; its only online ordering food, laying down since all the activities were shut from everyone because of the lockdown.

I believe parents should play a role in ruining their kid’s life’s from a young age not to get obese, and we need them to teach them to step by step to make them understand.
